Dollar edges up against ruble, euro slides faster
MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The dollar edged up against the ruble on Friday as the euro's slide gathered momentum.
The dollar closed the day on the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX) up 0.5 kopecks at 29.275/$1, while the euro fell 32.27 kopecks to 38.6625 rubles/EUR1.
The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) fell 14 kopecks to 33.5 rubles.
The Central Bank raised its official dollar rate for the weekend by 0.71 kopecks to 29.296 rubles/$1, and lowered its euro rate 12.24 kopecks to 38.949 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged up 0.79 kopecks to 29.3084 rubles/$1 in Today deals on the MICEX and 2.1 kopecks to 29.3203 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $6.815 billion, including $2.052 billion today and $4.764 billion Tom.
The euro fell 14.97 kopecks to 38.9137 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and fell 20.2 kopecks to 38.8489 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR518.7 million, including EUR222.9 million Today and EUR295.8 million Tom.
The MosPrime rate for overnight loans fell 23 basis points to 4.78%.
