Medvedev orders analysis of lawfulness of prison sentences of Khodorkovsky and others

MOSCOW. March 5 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has signed a list of instructions as a follow-up to his February 20 meeting with the heads of unregistered political parties, the Kremlin press service reported on Monday.

By April 1, Medvedev bound the Prosecutor General's Office to "duly analyze the lawfulness and justification of the court sentences with regard to Russian citizens listed in the attachment."

The attachment lists 32 people, including former Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky sentenced to 13 years in jail.

Prosecutor General Yury Chaika is responsible for fulfilling the orders.

The press service gives the full text of the attachment, which names among others Sergei Arakcheyev sentenced in 2007 to 15 years in jail, Dmitry Baranovsky sentenced in 2012 to 12 years, Valentin Danilov sentenced in 2005 to 13 years, Platon Lebedev sentenced in 2011 to 13 years, Sergei Mokhnatkin sentenced in 2010 to 2.5 years, Zara Murtazaliyeva sentenced in 2005 to 8.5 years, Alexei Pichugin sentenced in 2007 for life, Lors Khamiyev sentenced in 2009 to eight years and Mikhail Khodorkovsky sentenced in 2011 to 13 years.
