MICEX stock index falls below 1600 as European market posts early losses

MOSCOW. March 6 (Interfax) - Russia's MICEX stock index has fallen below the 1600-mark on the back of early losses in the European markets.

The MICEX was down 1.7% to 1597.86 and the RTS index was off 2% to 1717.76 by 12:20 p.m.

Benchmark stocks had fallen by up to 2%, led by Sberbank , VTB and Lukoil , down 2%, 1.8% and 1.5%, respectively.
