MTS Ukraine increases net profit 53% in 2011

KYIV. March 12 (Interfax) - OJSC MTS Ukraine (formerly UMS, Kyiv), a subsidiary of Russian cellular provider OJSC Mobile Telesystems (RTS; MTTS), increased its net profit in 2011 by 53.1% to 1.151 billion hryvni (7.9875 hryvni/$1 on March 12), the company said in its financial results.

The operator's sales revenue reached 9.104 billion hryvni, up 7%. OIBDA increased by 10.5% to 4.369 billion hryvni.

MTS Ukraine's revenue for the fourth quarter of 2011 came to 2.312 billion hryvnia, up 8% year-on-year.

The company's ARPU (average revenue per user) for 2011 increased by 2.6% to 39 hryvni per month. Traffic (minutes of use) increased by 8.4% to 580 minutes.

MTS Ukraine is a 100%-owned subsidiary of OJSC MTS. The operator's network covers over 95% of the country's territory, where 99% of the population reside. The company owns licenses for cellular (GSM-900/1800 CDMA-450), stationary, intercity, and international operations. The company also provides international roaming services.

The company's total number of subscribers stood at 19.07 million clients on November 30, 2011.
