CBR continues to buy forex in March - Ulyukayev
MOSCOW. March 16 (Interfax) - The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) continues to buy foreign currency this month, selling none, First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia Alexei Ulyukayev said during an interview given to Interfax.
"In March, the February trend continues, we have not sold any at all, but are actually buying a little every day. Turnover in March will probably be close in volume to February turnover," Ulyukayev said.
The CBR did not sell forex last month, but bought $2.6 billion, he said.
"There were both purchases and sales in January, the balance was minus $0.2 billion, a marginal amount. In February, there really were no sales at all, we had only net purchases - plus $2.6 billion," he said.
Last month was the first month the CBR did not sell currency since July of last year.
The bicurrency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45) corridor remains from 32.20 to 38.20 rubles, Ulyukayev said.
