Dollar down, euro up markedly against ruble
MOSCOW. March 16 (Interfax) - The dollar fell moderately and the euro gained markedly against the ruble on Friday as the euro rallied late on in the Forex market.
The dollar closed the day on the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX) down 7.33 kopecks at 29.2816/$1, while the euro rose 19.27 kopecks to 38.5727 rubles/EUR1.
The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) fell rose 5 kopecks to 33.46 rubles.
The Central Bank lowered its official dollar rate for the weekend by 22.44 kopecks to 29.3578 rubles/$1, and lowered its euro rate 16.64 kopecks to 38.4117 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged down 16.72 kopecks to 29.3638 rubles/$1 in Today deals on the MICEX and 14.98 kopecks to 29.3545 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $5.782 billion, including $1.702 billion today and $4.08 billion Tom.
The euro fell 15.69 kopecks to 38.3883 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and fell 7.24 kopecks to 38.4334 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR672 million, including EUR334 million Today and EUR38 million Tom.
The MosPrime rate for overnight loans rose 26 basis points to 5.31%.
