Russian fishing enterprises increase catch by almost 5% since start of 2012 - Rosrybolovstvo

MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax) - Russian fishing enterprises have caught almost 1.1 million tonnes of seaborne bioresources since the year of 2012, up 4.6% year-on-year, Russia's Federal Fisheries Committee (Rosrybolovstvo) said on Tuesday.

Rosrybolovstvo said that the catch in the Far Eastern basin came to 803,700 tonnes, up 46,600 tonnes from the same period of 2011. The pollack catch in this region increased 21,500 tonnes to 669,300 tonnes.

The catch in the northern basis came to 180,000 tonnes, down 11,700 tonnes from last year. The bulk of the catch was cod, up 11,000 tonnes to 83,000 tonnes.

The catch in the Baltic Sea came to 10,700 tonnes (up 1,200 tonnes), and the Azov and Black Sea basin - 8,300 tonnes (up 300 tonnes).

Enterprises in the Caspian basin reduced the anchovy catch by 100 tonnes to 300 tonnes.

The catch in foreign zones came to 71,000 tonnes, up 4,500 tonnes from the same period of 2011. The catch in convention regions and the open section of the Pacific Ocean increased by 6,700 tonnes to 14,400 tonnes.
