Dollar down, euro up on Friday
MOSCOW. March 23 (Interfax) - The dollar was down significantly, while the euro made major gains on the MICEX on Friday, with the ruble edging up against the bi-currency basket.
The dollar closed the day on the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX) down 18.25 kopecks at 29.29/$1, while the euro gained 13.5 kopecks to 38.945 rubles/EUR1.
The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) edged down 4 kopecks to 33.635 rubles.
The Central Bank raised its official dollar rate by 15.91 kopecks to 29.4038 rubles/$1, and increased its euro rate 9.31 kopecks to 38.8189 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged up 2.11 kopecks to 29.3402 rubles/$1 in Today deals on the MICEX and lost 1.59 kopecks to 29.3537 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $7.045 billion, including $1.733 billion today and $5.312 billion Tom.
The euro gained 13.35 kopecks to 38.8363 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and was up 15 kopecks to 38.8631 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR471.1 million, including EUR223.3 million Today and EUR247.8 million Tom.
The MosPrime rate for overnight loans lost 5 basis points to 5.28%.
