Global Ports looking to boost Far East coal handling to 1 mln tonnes a year
MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax) - Global Ports Investments plans to increase the amount of coal it handles at the port of Vostochny to one million tonnes per year in 2013-2014, the company's executive director, Alexander Nazarchuk, said during a conference call devoted to Global Ports' operational results for 2011.
Coal turnover by Vostochy Stevedore Company, which operates at the port, will run to 450,000-500,000 tonnes this year. Plans call for increasing that to a million tonnes in a year or two, Hazarchuk said, adding that the increase is planned at the existing terminal.
Coal-transshipment weighed in at 70,000 tonnes in 2011.
