Transport minister proposes creating public facilities at Russian sea ports
MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin has proposed considering the possibility of creating public facilities (terminals) at Russian sea ports as an antimonopoly measure.
"Now this situation has developed: after the corporatization of sea ports, terminal owners - which are also cargo owners - have been using measures of unfair competition and creating an artificial scarcity of port processing capacities," he said at an expanded collegium of the Russian Transport Ministry on Tuesday.
"In this situation, it seems appropriate to consider the issue of creating additional facilities to ensure the necessary level of competition. It's necessary to start constructing public facilities for all freight shippers," Levitin said.
