Ukraine's Energoatom increases net profit 190% in 2011 - company president

KYIV. March 27 (Interfax) - Ukrainian state enterprises NAEK Energoatom increased its net profit by 190% to 2.38 billion hryvni (7.986 hryvni/$1 on March 27, 2012) for 2011, the company's president, Yury Nedashkovsky, told journalists in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Energoatom's turnover came to around 18 billion hryvni last year, Nedashkovsky said, adding that 6 billion hryvni from the turnover has been transferred to various state budgets.

It was earlier reported that Energoatom reduced its net profit by 15% to 824.796 million hryvni in 2010.

Energoatom is the operator of all operational nuclear power plants (NPP) in Ukraine including the Zaporizhzhia, Yuzhno-Ukrainsky, Rovensky and Khmelnitsky NPPs., which utilize light water-cooled reactors. Total installed electricity capacity comes to 13,835 gigawatts.

In addition, Energoatom operates the Tashlykskaya Hydroelectric Pumped Storage Station with installed capacity at 302 megawatts using turbines and the pumped reservoir at the Aleksandrovsk Hydroelectric Power Plant with installed capacity at 11.5 MWt, which, along with the Yuzhno-Ukrainsky Nuclear Power Plant, forms Southern Ukraine's energy complex.

Energoatom also operates the Donuzlav wind station.
