Kazakhstan, Belarus agree on automobile recycling fee - Putin

MOSCOW. April 5 (Interfax) - Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus - the members of the Customs Union - have coordinated on the introduction of a recycling fee for automobiles, Russian Prime Minister and President-elect Vladimir Putin said.

"Today I talked with the leaders of both [of the other] countries, with the presidents and government representatives. Our colleagues agreed with this decision [to introduce a recycling fee]," Putin said at a government presidium meeting on Thursday.

Putin has tasked the Economic Development Ministry with establishing ministry-level contacts and introducing the fee prior to practical implementation in the context of Common Economic Space procedures.
