Aeroflot receives 664 mln rubles in state subsidies in 2011
MOSCOW. April 6 (Interfax) - OJSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines received 663.7 million rubles in subsidies from the sate in 2011, the company said in its financial reporting.
For instance, the company received 655 million rubles for covering losses emerging from discount transport of passengers from the Far East to Russia's European part and back, as well as 3.8 million rubles for covering various losses from transport of residents in the Kaliningrad region.
Furthermore, Aeroflot received 4 million rubles for the evacuation of Russian citizens from Japan during the tsunami of March 2011.
Aeroflot is Russia's biggest airline. The state is in the main shareholder with 51.17%. The company is based out of Sheremetyevo International Airport. The company's fleet includes 118 airliners. The company flew over 14 million passengers in 2011.
