Putin plans to announce roadmaps on his election ideas in first presidential decree

MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has called for focusing on strategic areas of Russia's development.

"I presented priorities of our program during the election campaign. I will outline a roadmap on all initiatives that I declared in my first presidential decree. Moreover, work on them has virtually been started," Putin said in his report to the State Duma on Wednesday.

Putin called for "concentrating on issues that are of strategic and principled significance" for Russia's development. He outlined five priorities, the demographic problem being on top of this list.

Putin recalled that a demographic policy concept endorsed in 2007 envisioned that life expectancy in Russia should reach 75 years by 2025.

"Experts analyzing the current trends believe this level could be reached as early as in 2018. I think we should set this very goal," Putin said.
