RusAl to launch Boguchany Smelter's first section in March 2013

KRASNOYARSK. April 11 (Interfax) - UC RusAl plans to launch the first section at Boguchany Aluminum Smelter (BoAZ) in March 2013, RusAl said in press release.

"All 67 facilities in the enterprise's first launch site will be fully ready for commission by March 2013," the press release said.

A concrete plant has been launched there. In addition, the construction of a power transmission line and infrastructure for a construction camp has been completed.

The first section at BoAZ will be able to produce 147,000 tonnes of aluminum a year.

RusAl said that the plant is being built using funds from Vnesheconombank (VEB). This loan comes to 21.9 billion rubles.

It was earlier reported that BoAZ's construction (full design capacity at 588,000 tonnes of metal a year) is underway in Taezhny in the Krasnoyarsk Territory as part of the Boguchany Hydroelectric Power Plant and Aluminum Smelter Project (The BEMO Project), which is being implemented by RusAl and OJSC RusHydro on a parity basis.

The smelter should reach full capacity in 2015.
