Duma committee recommends extending Ulyukayev's term as Central Bank board member
MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - The State Duma's Financial Markets Committee at a meeting on April 11 recommended extending Central Bank First Deputy Chairman Alexei Ulyukayev's term as a CB board member by another four years.
Ulyukayev's term expires on April 25.
The Central Bank chairman asks the Duma to nominate board members with the Russian president's approval.
Ulyukayev has been a CB board member and first deputy chairman for eight years. "His main sphere of responsibility has been macroeconomic policy, specifically monetary policy, exchange-rate policy and, in recent years, financial stability," CB Chairman Sergei Ignatyev said, presenting the candidate. "He has worked long and well and I ask you to support him," Ignatyev said.
The Duma is expected to vote on the matter on April 13.
The board contains Ignatyev and Ulyukayev as well as Alexei Simanovsky, Mikhail Sukhov, Georgy Luntovsky, Vladislav Kontorovich, Sergei Shvetsov, Lyudmila Gudenko, Nadezhda Ivanova, Nadezhda Savinskaya and Konstantin Shor.
