Kazakhmys partnering Air Liquide in industrial gas production

ALMATY. April 19 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's Kazakhmys Corporation and France's Air Liquide on April 19 signed a memorandum of understanding to carry out an investment project for industrial gas production at Kazakh enterprises, the Kazakh Industry and New Technologies Ministry said in a press release.

"The project involves the transfer of advanced technologies, supply of hi-tech equipment, creation of jobs and staff training, and direct investment," the ministry said.

Direct investment in Kazakhstan by France has amounted to approximately $8.6 billion over the last 20 years. Some 20 joint investment projects worth around $13 billion are being implemented in both countries.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Air Liquide management during a visit to Paris last September, when it was decided to discuss the prospects for joint projects in industrial gases, among others.
