Deposit rates at top ten Russian banks rise to 9.6% - CB
MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - The top average ruble-deposit rate at Russia's ten leading banks by deposits edged up to 9.60% in the second ten days of April, from 9.54% in first third of the month, the Central Bank said.
The CB started to monitor deposit rates at the ten banks, which hold around 70% of Russia's personal deposits, in July 2009. Rates averaged at 14.85% at the time and peaked at 15.02% in the second ten days of that month.
Rates went up 1.06 pp in 2011 to 9.41% by the end of December. They have risen another 0.19 pp this year.
The ten banks that the CB is monitoring are Sberbank , VTB24 , Bank of Moscow , Raiffeisenbank, Gazprombank, Rosbank, Alfa-Bank , Uralsib , MDM Bank and Rosselkhozbank .
