Transaero posts 15 mln rubles in RAS net profit for Q1 compared to losses a year previous
MOSCOW. April 23 (Interfax) - OJSC Transaero Airlines posted 15 million rubles in net profit according to Russian accounting standards (RAS) for the first quarter of 2012 compared to 381 million rubles of losses in the same period of last year, the airline said in a statement.
The company's sales revenue for the three months came to 17.5 billion rubles, up 26% year-on-year
Transaero's pretax profit came to 93.7 million rubles compared to losses of 342 million rubles in the same period of 2011.
The value of Transaero's assets increased in the first quarter by 24.4% to 71.9 billion rubles. The statement said: "This was driven by an increase in fixed assets because of expansion of a program for replenishing and updating the airliner fleet, as well as an increase in the number of agreements signed with agents owing to growth in total sales in the framework of the summer flight program."
The airline's passenger turnover in the first quarter increased by 28% to 8.5 billion passenger kilometers. Total passenger transport went up by 38% to 1.77 million persons.
Transaero boosted RAS net profit for 2011 by 215% to 1.831 billion rubles. Sales revenue increased by 42% to 57.8 billion rubles.
Transaero Airlines flew 8.5 million passengers in 2011. The company plans to fly 10.6 million persons (an increase of 24.7%) for 2012.
Olga and Alexander Pleshakov, as well as one of their mothers, Tatyana Anodina, are the main shareholders in Transaero with 46.8% in the company.
