Norilsk Nickel commissions substations for Bystrinsky, Bugdainsky mines
MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - MMC Norilsk Nickel has commissioned two 110/35/10 kilovolt substations, Bystrinskaya and Bugdainskaya at a combined cost of over 1.2 billion rubles to provide electricity for the Bystrinsky and Bugdainsky mining and processing plants that are under construction in the Trans-Baikal territory, the company said in a statement.
Norilsk Nickel expects to commission a mine and concentrating plant at the Bugdainskoye molybdenum field in the Trans-Baikal territory at the end 2016. The mine and concentrating plant should achieve design capacity to produce 16 million tonnes of ore per year and concentrate, containing approximately 9,000 tonnes of molybdenum in 2017.
Construction of the Bugdainsky complex will be the second stage of the company's project in the Trans-Baikal territory. Some 32 billion-34 billion rubles will be invested in another mine and concentrating plant at the Bystrinskoye polymetallic ore field, where commissioning is also planned for 2016. The ore production is expected to be at 10 million tonnes a year to produce 62,000 tonnes of copper in concentrate, 6.3 tonnes of gold in concentrate and 2.1 million tonnes of iron in concentrate.
The investments associated with developing mineral resources in the Trans-Baikal (formerly Chita) region are being carried out under a public-private partnership between the Russian Investment Fund and Norilsk Nickel. In total, 104.597 billion rubles will be invested in the projects, with Norilsk Nickel providing over 80 billion rubles, 72 billion rubles of it for Bystrinskoye and Bugdainskoye.
