Dismissal of ministers every time misconduct happens to lead to collapse - Medvedev

MOSCOW. April 26 (Interfax) - Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev is responsible for everything that happens in the police force yet the entire system may collapse if ministers are fired every time misconduct occurs, President Dmitry Medvedev said in a live interview with Russian television on Thursday.

He was asked about personal responsibility of Nurgaliyev for the police work and the demands to fire the interior minister.

"Certainly, the interior minister is fully responsible for the Interior Ministry affairs and he is perfectly aware of that. He is responsible for the reform, the same as I am responsible for it as the president and the supreme commander," Medvedev said.

Everyone knows what will happen to the incumbent ministers: "They will all resign on May 7," he said.

"This resignation is a planned event. Yet the system will collapse if we fire ministers every time misconduct happens," he said.

"We will never have a normal team if we fire a minister every time something happens: we know under which circumstances the country works, we know about problems of our political system and our economic status," he said.
