Nord Stream back to work after two-week maintenance

MOSCOW. April 28 (Interfax) - The Nord Stream gas pipeline, which was halted on April 15 for planned work, was re-launched at 6:00 p.m. Moscow time on Saturday, an industry source told Interfax.

The branch is operating at the same capacity as before - 27 million cubic meters per day. This is roughly a third of its design capacity.

Simultaneously with the re-launch of the marine line, transit gas through Ukraine is expected to be reduced, the source said.

The first branch of the gas pipeline was launched last November. This fall, Nord Stream's second branch should be brought online. The two branches' combined design capacity is 55 billion cubic meters (bcm) per year.

At the moment, Nord Stream is loaded with gas from the transfer of transit from the Ukrainian corridor.
