Uralvagonzavod to develop partnership with AnsaldoBreda
MOSCOW. May 2 (Interfax) - OJSC Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) has made a deal with Italian rail engineering corporation AnsaldoBreda, the company's deputy general director for rail equipment, Andrei Shlensky, told the press on the sidelines of the TransRussia 2012 forum in Moscow.
"We have a lot in common so we are looking [for (a point of contact]. This will involve technology transfer on the one hand and on the other maybe some joint projects," he said, without specifying what projects were being discussed.
AnsaldoBreda is controlled by the Finmeccanica holding company. The corporation designs and produces trains, trams and mechanical and electrical equipment for them.
A Uralvagonzavod delegation led by General Director Oleg Sienko visited AnsaldoBreda in Pistoia in February. The Italian company was represented by its first vice president for public transport Andrea Pepi. "During the visit to the plant, UVZ representatives looked at the assembly of hi-speed trains and regional route trains as well as the painting division. AnsaldoBreda managers showed the Russian delegation several phases of production for the hi-speed V300 Zefiro train, which can reach speeds of up to 360 km/hour," the Russian company said.
Shlensky told the press at TransRussia said cooperation with the company would not "just involve hi-speed communications."
