OGK-3 ups power generation 3.2% in Q1

MOSCOW. May 2 (Interfax) - Wholesale generating company OJSC OGK-3's power stations boosted electricity production 3.2% year-on-year in Q1 2012 to 9.695 billion kilowatt hours (kWh), the genco said in a statement.

This growth was connected with an increase in electricity consumption in the power stations' regions of presence, it said.

Power supply increased 3.3% to 9.152 billion kWh.

OGK-3's capacity utilization factor was up from 52.07% to 53.12% in the three months.

At the same time, heat supply fell 1.1% to 644,300 Gcal, due to a higher average monthly temperature in OGK-3's regions of presence.

Electricity generation and heat supply at OGK-3's power stations:

Station Electricity, mln kWh Heat, '000 Gcal
Q1 2012 Q1 2011 Q1 2012 Q1 2011
Gusinoozersk GRES 1271,4 1214,4 139,0 146,1
Kostroma GRES 4161,7 3964,7 87,0 87,2
Pechora GRES 858,5 1013,0 114,8 109,5
Kharanor GRES 863,1 808,1 59,7 63,1
Cherepets GRES 1162,8 925,1 74,2 62,9
Yuzhnouralsk GRES 1377,9 1469,5 177,4 174,3
Total 9695,4 9394,8 644,3 651,1

The share of natural gas in OGK-3's fuel balance declined from 55.59% to 53.91% in Q1 2012, while the share of coal expanded from 43.36% to 45.37%, and the share of fuel oil decreased from 1.05% to 0.72%. Changes in the fuel balance are connected with optimization of the fuel component in the cost of electricity sales, as well as with a reduction in the share of power generation by gas-fired equipment.

OGK-3 includes the Kostroma, Pechora, Cherepets, Kharanor, Gusinoozersk and Yuzhnouralsk State District Power Plants (GRES), which have a combined installed capacity of over 8 GW.
