Dollar and euro post major gains on MICEX following worsening external trends

MOSCOW. May 4 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar and euro posted major gains on Friday against the Russian ruble on the MICEX. The value of the bi-currency basket (set at $0.55 and 0.45 euro) increased for the day for 20 kopecks to 33.89 rubles because of worsening external trends.

The dollar went up 23.51 kopecks on the MICEX to close at 29.7301 rubles/$1. The euro increased 16 kopecks to finish at 38.98 rubles/EUR1. The euro hit a session high of 39.08 rubles/EUR1, up 26 kopecks from Thursday's close.

The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on MICEX went up 9.27 kopecks to 29.5654 rubles/$1 in Today deals and 11.08 kopecks to 29.6122 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined dollar trading on MICEX amounted to $6.445 billion; of which $1.8328 billion were Today deals and $4.612 billion were Tomorrow deals.

The euro's average weighted rate went up 9.64 kopecks to 38.842 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and 10.67 kopecks to 38.8824 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined euro trading amounted to 608.818 million euro, of which 310.186 million euro were Today deals and 298.632 million euro were Tomorrow deals.

The overnight MosPrime Rate went down by 28 basis points to 5.98%.
