Privileges for infrastructure monopolies will be scrapped - Putin

MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - A decision to scrap privileges for infrastructure monopolies will be made soon, said President Vladimir Putin.

Putin told the State Duma on Tuesday that Dmitry Medvedev, during his tenure as president, proposed the idea of re-directing resources from the center to the regions and to municipal entities.

"One of the sources needed for that is to scrap privileges enjoyed by infrastructure monopolies, and this decision will be made soon. It has been intensively discussed. During the work on the budget, the government, I am sure, will submit a proposal to you, and you will have to make the relevant decision," Putin told the Duma.
