Power grid reform to help eliminate cross subsidies, boost investment - ministry
MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - Transferring management of the Inter-District Grid Company Holding (IDGC Holding) to the Federal Grid Company (FGC) would eliminate cross subsidies in the power sector and boost investment in grids by optimizing costs and synchronizing investment programs, the Energy Ministry said.
It would also speed up the removal of restrictions on technical connection, the ministry's press office quoted Dmitry Klokov, aide to the energy minister, as saying.
Transferring the grid holding to FGC would "ensure a unified approach and coordinated work in grid management and standardize the technological policy of companies I the sector," he said.
The Energy Ministry received a government directive to transfer the holding to FGC on May 8. The timing of the transfer is not yet known.
