Air Liquide opens industrial-gases plant in Alabuga SEZ

MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - Air Liquide of France on Wednesday launched a liquid oxygen and nitrogen plant in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, OJSC Special Economic Zones said in a press release.

Total investment in the project is 35 million euros and the plant has the capacity to produce 200 tonnes of liquid oxygen and nitrogen daily.

"The company plans to build a pipeline communication system in Alabuga SEZ for direct production supplies to its residents," OJSC SEZ reported.

Air Liquide Russia and CIS Vice President Eugene Pont said the company plans to increase investment in projects in Russia to 1 billion euros by 2015.

A technical gases production plant will be launched in Balakovo (Saratov region) in November 2012. The plant will produce oxygen, nitrogen and liquid and gas argon - primarily for CJSC Severstal - Balakovo plant, as well as industrial consumers in the region.

Air Liquide produces gases for industry, healthcare and environmental protection.

Alabuga SEZ was established in 2006. Residents include Ford-Sollers, Saint-Gobain, Rockwool, Sisecam, Hayat Group and others.

Federal legislation states that investors have the right to import raw materials, equipment and parts to Alabuga SEZ duty free. Overall investment in projects in the SEZ exceed $2.5 billion. Federal and regional budgets have allocated 15.5 billion rubles to develop Alabuga infrastructure.

OJSC SEZ is a management company, which runs existing and newly established SEZ in Russia. It currently manages 18 such zones in Russia.
