Russia, Kyrgyzstan should look for compromise on economic issues - Medvedev
MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - During a meeting with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev on Wednesday, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is hoping for productive cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan on all issues.
Medvedev said he and Atambayev have "many issues to resolve, I mean economic issues and issues related to cooperation between our countries."
Medvedev said both parties need to work hard and look for compromises. "In this case, I believe we can make headway on the main areas of cooperation, which we have discussed many times," he said.
Speaking about the general situation with Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation, Medvedev said it is not bad with mutual commodity turnover increasing and the Kyrgyz government making efforts.
Medvedev suggested that they discuss issues related to economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as regional and other issues.
Atambayev, in turn, said he is happy that the Russian president and the State Duma have backed Medvedev's candidacy for the post of prime minister, adding that his previous experience of working with Medvedev will help future work. "It will be much easier to complete this work. I am very glad that we continue working together," Atambayev said.
Atambayev wished Medvedev good health and success in his work.
