Car production in Russia up 20% in 4M - Rosstat
MOSCOW. May 17 (Interfax) - Russia produced 623,000 cars in January-April 2012, 19.9% more than in the same period last year, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported.
Car production in April was down 1.2% compared to March but up 22% year-on-year.
There were 61,000 trucks (including chassis, except for dump-trucks) built during the four-month period, 4.7% more, and 15,800 buses, 1.5% more.
Russia's main car-producers are OJSC AvtoVAZ , the Sollers group, OJSC Avtoframos (Renault's plant in Moscow). The country's main truck-builders are OJSC KamAZ and the GAZ group.
