New govt's financial economic bloc fairly liberal - Yasin

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - The financial and economic bloc of the new government consists of fairly liberal officials, said former economic minister Yevgeny Yasin, currently a senior researcher at the Higher School of Economics.

"The composition of the financial and economic bloc, which includes Shuvalov, Dvorkovich, Siluanov and Belousov, appears to me not bad," Yasin told Interfax, commenting on the new Cabinet.

"Siluanov is quite a liberal financier, Shuvalov and Dvorkovich too have fairly liberal views. Belousov is no conservative either and is quite capable of cooperation," said Yasin, describing the new Cabinet members.

If former economic development minister Elvira Nabiullina joins the presidential administration, it will be possible to say that the influence of liberal economists in the power structure will be quite significant, he said.

At the initial stage, the financial and economic bloc will be doing a technical job of preparing measures; as for their political weight, "they do not need it as it will be provided by Putin and Medvedev," the economist said.

It was reported that Igor Shuvalov was re-appointed as First Deputy Prime Minister, Arkady Dvorkovich has been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the fuel and energy sector, industry, transport and agriculture; Anton Siluanov, as Finance Minister, and Andrei Belousov, as Economic Development Minister.
