Ukraine could import liquefied gas from U.S.

KYIV. May 25 (Interfax) - Ukraine is thinking of importing liquefied gas from the United States, Energy and Coal Minister Yury Boyko told reporters.

The issue will be discussed by the Ukrainian-American Energy Commission, which meets in the U.S. next week, Boyko said.

The U.S. has boosted production of its own gas in recent year and now covers its own needs. It could export the surplus, Boyko said.

Gas is trading at $80 per thousand cu m at the Louisiana gas hub, he said.
