Moscow, Minsk initial Belarus NPP contract
MINSK. June 1 (Interfax) - Moscow and Minsk have initialed a general contract on the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Belarus, Sergei Kiriyenko, director of Russia's state atomic energy corporation Rosatom, told journalists.
"Today the two sides' organizations initialed the general contract on the main share of construction work at this nuclear power plant. It means that all negotiations have been completed," he said.
Both Russia and Belarus expect the contract to be signed in June, he added.
"It could be timed to coincide with the official ceremony to build a time capsule into the foundation stone of the future nuclear power plant," Kiriyenko said.
He confirmed the sides' total mutual understanding on this project.
"It is a very large contract, a very large amount of work. We have been fulfilling our obligations accurately," he said.
