Russian stock market opens with losses, RTS and MICEX down 1.1%

MOSCOW. June 4 (Interfax) - The Russian stock market opened trading on Monday with further losses for blue chips on a wave of world-wide pessimism, which has been driven by weak stats from Europe, the U.S., and China. The RTS and MICEX declined 1.1% in the first minute of trades.

By 10:01 am Moscow time, the MICEX had decreased by 1.1% to 1,283.76 points while the RTS Index had declined by 1.1% to 1,214.68 points. Ruble-based benchmark stocks on the MICEX-RTS went down within 3.4%.

Decliners at the start of trades included VTB , down 1.2%, Gazprom - 0.8%, Gazprom Neft - 2.2%, Lukoil - 0.7%, NOVATEK - 0.7%, MMC Norilsk Nickel - 2.7%, Polyus Gold - 0.5%, Rosneft - 1.2%, Rostelecom - 1%, Sberbank - 1.7%, Surgutneftegas - 0.8% and 3.4% on prefs, Tatneft - 1.5%, and Federal Grid Company UES - 3%.
