Putin extends condolences to Nigerian president over plane crash

MOSCOW. June 4 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended condolences to his Nigerian counterpart Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in connection with the plane crash in the Lagos suburb, the Kremlin press service reported.

"I would like to extend genuine condolences over this tragedy, the crash of a commercial airliner in the Lagos suburb. Sharing your pain about the loss of many human lives, I am asking you to give my condolences to the victims' families and wish everyone hurt in the crash a speedy recovery," Putin said in his address released by the Kremlin press service on Monday.

According to earlier reports, the crash of a commercial airliner in Lagos, Nigeria, on Sunday killed all 153 passengers aboard. According to eyewitnesses, the plane hit a building and caught fire. The head of the Nigerian commercial aviation department said the plane was en route from Nigeria's capital Abuja to Lagos.
