VCT ups container handling 35% in Jan-May
VLADIVOSTOK. June 5. (Interfax) - LLC Vladivostok Container Terminal (VCT), part of FESCO Transportation Group, increased container handling 35% year-on-year to 159,295 TEU (20-foot equivalent units) in January-May 2012, the company said in a statement.
In May alone, the terminal processed 41,581 TEU, up 36.5% over April.
Imports climbed 28% to 17,199 TEU, exports rose 48% to 15,676 TEU, and coastal shipping jumped 36% to 8,706 TEU in the five months.
VCT processed 42 ships in May, with average turnover for one vessel coming to 990 TEU.
Last year, VCT boosted container handling by 3.4% to 297,956 TEU.
VCT operates at the Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port.
