Daimler increases Mercedes-Benz sales 8% in 5mths, sales in Russia increase over 30%
STUTTGART. June 5 (Interfax) - Daimler AG increased sales of Mercedes-Benz cars in January-May 2012 by 8% year-on-year to 577,300 units, including 3.1% growth to 122,600 units in May (excluding Smart cars), the company said.
At the same time, car shipments in Russia increased by over 30% in January-May. "Russia set new records for sales in May and since the start of the year," the company said in a statement. However, Daimler has yet to provide absolute figures for sales on the Russian market.
In addition, the company increased sales of Smart cars by 3.4% to 45,996 units in the five months. Sales in May decreased by 6.9% year-on-year to 9,464 cars.
The company plans to boost car sales this year faster than the car market. Daimler is placing its bets on new B-class and other models.
