Leaders order further steps to establish SCO Development Fund, bank
BEIJING. June 7 (Interfax) - The presidents of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's member states have instructed their representatives to take further measures aimed at establishing financial institutions within the SCO.
"The leaders of the SCO member states spoke positively about the work that has already been done as the sides consider the possibility of creating a SCO Development Fund and a SCO Development Bank. They said that measures should continue in order to accomplish this work as soon as possible," according to an information statement, adopted at the organization's summit in Beijing.
"Given the present-day international situation and the growing scope of the SCO's work, the heads of state noted the advisability of stepping up the efforts of the sides and the SCO permanent bodies to provide information support of the organization's work in order to create an objective image of the SCO," the document says.
