Moscow to retaliate if Congress passes "Magnitsky bill"

MOSCOW. June 7 (Interfax) - Moscow hopes that the Congress of the United States will eventually turn down the "Magnitsky bill". If it doesn't, this will be counterproductive and verge on interference in internal affairs, the Russian Foreign Ministry's Representative for Human Rights Konstantin Dolgov has told Interfax.

"So far, the bill has only been approved by the committee [House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs]. This is not the entire Congress. We hope that the bill will be turned down, there is a chance, although the situation appears to be taking an unfavorable turn," he said.

"I can confirm what I said earlier: if unilateral restrictive measures are passed against Russian citizens, there will be an adequate response," the diplomat said.
