Approval ratings for Putin, Medvedev rising - VTsIOM
MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - The job performance of the Russian president and prime minister is approved by 69% and 65% Russians, respectively, said Valery Fyodorov, Director at VTsIOM, a pollster.
"Whereas the ratings of the president and prime minister were falling during the Duma election campaign, they started going up again in January. As a result of a very efficient electoral campaign the percentage of those who approve of the president's and prime minister's job performances was 69% and 65%, respectively, by May," Fyodorov told reporters on Friday.
Opposition protest failed to crash the Russians' confidence in their president and prime minister, he said.
"During the presidential election campaign Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev launched a counteroffensive. There was a very successful address to the Federal Assembly, a series of articles was published, and counter-rallies were held. All this allowed to increase support for the president and prime minister to such levels, taking account, of course, of the fact, that they switched places in May," the sociologist said.
In all, the May poll surveyed 1,600 respondents in 138 Russian towns. The margin of error is 3.4%.
