External players inspire Syrian opposition with hope for Libyan scenario replay - Lavrov
MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - External forces in Syria are pushing the opposition toward continuing armed actions against the government forces, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"External forces are pushing the armed opposition toward taking an irreconcilable stance and continuing combat actions, which inspires these opposition groups with the hope of replaying the Libyan scenario," Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.
Syria is on the verge of a full-scale civilian conflict, he said.
"The situation in Syria is becoming increasingly more alarming. The impression is that Syria is on the verge of a full-scale civilian conflict," he said.
