UAZ to supply first knockdown kits for Kostanai car assembly line next month

KOSTANAI. June 13 (Interfax) - Saryarka AvtoProm LLP, a joint venture of Allur Avto (51%) and Tobol CEC (49%), plans a launch of an UAZ assembly line in Kostonai by the end of June.

The regional administration (akimat) said that the project totals 2.568 billion tenge (148.7 tenge/$1).

Under the contract with Russia's Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) 1,000 knock-down car kits for two models -- UAZ Patriot and UAZ Pickup will be supplied in September, but he first ten will arrive in July.

The line will be completely ready for launch on June 20, said the akimat.

Last year Saryarka Avtoprom reported that knock-down kits would arrive in early December 2011. The company also stressed that it had secured 2.4 billion tenge for the project from the national budget. Kostanai-assembled cars were estimated to be 25 30% cheaper than automobiles offered by the dealers of the Russian car-maker.
