RUSAL ships 5.3% more aluminum by rail in 5M - RZD

MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - United Company RUSAL (UC RUSAL) raised aluminum shipments by rail 5.3% year-on-year in January-May 2012 to 1.058 million tonnes, Russian Railways (RZD) said.

Export shipments grew 5.8% to 990,800 tonnes, but domestic shipments fell 0.6% to 66,800 tonnes.

Alumina shipments rose 2.8% to 3.065 million tonnes, with imports up 4.8% to 2.051 million tonnes but domestic shipments falling 1.1% to 1.014 million tonnes.

RZD's figures differ from Rusal's own, which are usually published later because, the aluminum company says, RZD reports aluminum shipped in containers as container cargo, without a breakdown for the type of cargo.
