Transneft to launch oil reception point at Kozmino for ESPO-2 at start of July

MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - Transneft plans to launch an oil reception point at the Kozmino terminal at the start of July 2012 in the framework of the ESPO-2 pipeline project (Eastern Siberia Pacific Ocean pipeline system phase two), LLC Spetsmornefteport Kozmino said in a statement.

The company has already finished work on connecting the oil reception point to the operational trunk pipeline. Construction and installation operations at the reception point will be completed in the near future. A full-scale integrated test of the new facility should be made by the end of this month.

These and other operations, such as the development of a second mooring at the terminal, dredging space, and an additional accounting system, will help boost total oil shipped via ESPO by 100% to 30 million tonnes a year.

The ESPO pipeline system is being built to take oil to markets in the Asia-Pacific region. The first phase, which included the pipeline section from Taishet (Irkutsk Region) to Skovorodino and the Kozmino oil loading terminal on the Pacific coast, was launched at the end of 2009. The oil is taken buy rail from Skovorodino to the port. The second phase calls for building the section from Skovorodino to the Pacific coast and expanding the capacity of the marine terminal. According to Transneft, construction should reach its conclusion in October-November 2012.
