Freight One lands one-year oil transport contract for ESPO project

MOSCOW. June 14. (Interfax) - OJSC Freight One Company, controlled by Vladimir Lisin's UCL Group, has signed a one-year contract with OJSC Transneft subsidiary LLC Transneft-Logistics to transport over 2.5 million tonnes of oil in its tankers as part of the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) project, Freight One said in a press release.

The contract envisages the transport of at least 3,600 tankers, or about 230,000 tonnes of oil, on the Skovorodino-Nakhodka section in June. In the future, there are plans to raise monthly transport volumes to 380,000 tonnes.

The contract was signed in the framework of a program to raise the efficiency of freight transport via Freight One's tankers, under which the company will boost the portion of major clients in its overall oil contract portfolio. At present, Freight One is cooperating with Rosneft , Gazprom Neft , Bashneft and NOVATEK . In the first quarter of this year, Freight One's tankers handled 10.2 million tonnes of oil and petroleum products, the press release said.

Freight One is Russia's leading railway transporter, managing over 190,000 railway cars of various types. It was wholly owned by OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) until the end of last year, and it is now part of railway holding UCL Rail, which is in turn part of UCL Group, which manages railway operators; stevedoring companies in the north-west and south of Russia; the Volga, North-West and West Shipping Companies and several other shipping assets. Independent Transport Company (ITC) owns 75% minus two of Freight One's shares.

Transneft-Logistics is a 100% subsidiary of Transneft. It organizes oil transport as part of the ESPO project, and it provides for railway shipments of oil and petroleum products from all oil-loading points that belong to its parent company.
