Over 400 bln rubles to be allocated before 2020 to make Russian drones - Putin
KORENOVSK, Krasnodar Territory. June 14 (Interfax) - The Russian unmanned aviation should be developed most actively, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Here we need the whole (product) line, including automated attack, reconnaissance and other systems," Putin said at a meeting which focused on government defense contracts.
Over 400 billion rubles are due to be allocated for this purpose before 2020, the president said.
"We need to most actively deploy the programs for unmanned aerial systems. All experts estimate that this is a very important development area in the aviation," Putin said.
In foreign countries, drones are increasingly being used with ever greater frequency and efficiency, he said. The Russian drone project should involve major design and research schools, with a possibility of international cooperation, Putin said.
"I am drawing your attention that the experience of foreign partners can and should be used, but bear this in mind, and you know it well yourselves: no one is going to give us the most promising, advanced things. We have to make them on our own," Putin said.
