Negotiations are only efficient way to solve Iranian nuclear problem - China
BEIJING. June 18 (Interfax) - Iran has the right to peaceful uses of atomic energy in strict compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a Monday press briefing.
"Iran joined the NPT, and it has the right to peaceful uses of atomic energy. At the same time, we believe that it must fulfill international obligations," he said.
"China thinks that the dialogue and negotiations are the only correct and efficient way of settling the Iranian nuclear problem. We hope that the interested sides will build up diplomatic efforts, overcome disagreements, bolster the Moscow round of the negotiations and trends toward the dialogue and cooperation, and take a step toward the elaboration of ways of the comprehensive and lasting solution of the Iranian nuclear problem," Hong said.
The two-day round of negotiations between the international mediating sextet (five permanent members of the UN Security Council) and Iran started in Moscow on Monday.
