Putin, Obama speak for easing visa regime, protection of adopted children

LOS CABOS. June 19 (Interfax) - Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Barack Obama of the U.S. said they intend to give special attention to expanding contacts between the two countries, including liberalization of the visa regime.

In this joint statement issued after the meting in Los Cabos, Mexico, the two presidents said they welcome the steps on the enactment of the 2011 Russian-U.S. agreement on easing visa formalities, which should make mutual trips by Russian and U.S. tourists and business people easier.

The two leaders also said they are ready to work together on protecting adopted children. The presidents said the enactment and fulfillment of the bilateral agreement on cooperation in the sphere of international adoption, which was signed last year, will promote that

The two leaders said Russia and the U.S. are capable of achieving new positive results in the sphere of democratic development and the security of the people of Russia and the U.S., their prosperity, and also the solution of other complex issues faced by the two countries and the international community.
