No Russians among Nigeria bombings casualties - ministry

MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - There were no Russians among those killed or injured in Sunday's suicide bombings of Christian churches in Nigeria and in subsequent clashes between Christians and Muslims in the African country, Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, citing the Russian Embassy in Lagos.

"Moscow resolutely condemns these bloody terrorist acts in Moscow and re-emphasizes the impermissibility and special danger of the use of the religious factor for fanning religious strife and fueling extremism in a country where the coexistence of several large religious communities has been part of national history," the ministry said in a statement.

"It is categorically unacceptable to forcibly try to prevent citizens from exercising their right to freedom of worship," it said.

The bombings and reprisals left at least 50 people dead and about 130 injured, according to the BBC.
