It's too early to discuss guarantees to Iran to develop peace atom - U.S. official

Moscow. June 20 (Interfax) - Tehran should dispel the fears of the international community regarding its nuclear problem prior to demanding the West's guarantees to develop peaceful nuclear energy, a senior U.S. official said.

The United States thinks that at the current stage the issue of providing guarantees is not an issue for discussion, the official told journalists in the wake the Moscow round of P5+1 talks with Iran.

Iran should make certain moves as far as the international community's fears are concerned, the official said, noting that there is no reason to speak about the rights at the current stage. Iran has the obligations under the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, UN Security Council resolutions and the IAEA Board of Governors resolutions, and it should fulfill these obligations, the official said.
